By Yinka Fagbile

The Lagos State Government will on Wednesday, 20th of July, launch the  upgraded Lagos Smart Identity Card (LAG ID CARD) thus, replacing the Lagos State Resident Identity Card popularly known as LASRRA Card.

In a release on Tuesday, the state government, says the formal launch will be done by Lagos Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Police College, Ikeja.

The General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Ibilola Kasunmu,  in the official release says "the launch will happen simultaneously, across the five divisions of the state". This includes Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lsgos Island and Epe.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) had earlier announced the upgrade of Lagos State Resident Identity Card (LAG ID) for residents in the state to a smart card embedded with more features and functions that enable the cardholders to enjoy and have access to faster and better services from the Lagos State Government.

The new multi-application smartcard offers registered residents access to services ranging from a means of personal security and identity verification at points of accessing various government services, applying for loans from Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) to pay for services across multiple vendors including BRT and LagFerry as well as cash withdrawals from banks’ Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

OJELABI: LEADING WITH VISION AND INTEGRITY – A RESPONSE

We have taken notice of recent publications and attacks on our frontline and well-respected Leader, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State by a few misguided persons masquerading as representatives of coalitions in the riverine areas of Ojo Local Government and in particular, Oto-Awori LCDA. The writers seem to suggest that Hon. Ojelabi's decisions are driven by a desire to block others from the riverine communities of attaining prominent political positions in the areas. While we respect their right to free speech, we cannot let their wrong assertions and malicious attempt to misinforming right thinking members of the public go without a response. To set the record straight, a crucial meeting was held by all the political leaders in Oto-Awori LCDA on Thursday, April 24, 2025 where a decision was reached that the duo of Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, the current Vice Chairman of the LCDA, and Hon. Moses Aina, current leader ...
