By Yinka Fagbile

Ojo Federal Constituency and by extension, Lagos State was agog on Wednesday culminating in an atmosphere of joy, excitement, and celebration by the people and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as commissioners and special advisers were inaugurated by the Governor of the State, Mr. Babajide Olusola  Sanwo-Olu.

The inauguration which was held at Alausa in Ikeja, saw the emergence of two commissioners from Ojo Local Government including Hon. Bolaji Kayode (Local Government Affairs) and Hon. Tolani Sule (Tertiary Institutions), both Awori and sons of the Soil.

The inauguration of the commissioners was a sequel to a series of correspondences written by the Governor to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa appointing the nominees as members of the State Executive Council.

Obasa had announced the confirmation of some of the nominees earlier screened on August 23 before the receipt of another list containing the previous and new set of proposed appointees on September 4 from the State Governor.

The excited crowd both at the venue of the inauguration and reception expressed great delight in what some described as "double portion", and "double anointing" while others preferred to say it was double blessings for the old local government.

The writers seem to suggest that Hon. Ojelabi's decisions are driven by a desire to block others from the riverine communities of attaining prominent political positions in the areas. While we respect their right to free speech, we cannot let their wrong assertions and malicious attempt to misinforming right thinking members of the public go without a response. To set the record straight, a crucial meeting was held by all the political leaders in Oto-Awori LCDA on Thursday, April 24, 2025 where a decision was reached that the duo of Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, the current Vice Chairman of the LCDA, and Hon. Moses Aina, current leader ...
